The capital of the province of Ontario in Canada, Toronto has more than two and a half million inhabitants, making it the largest city in the country. It is also the economic capital. A multicultural city, it was originally a French fort before it welcomed British settlers. Located alongside Lake Ontario, it is crossed by two rivers and their tributaries, and it experiences a humid continental climate, with cold winters and hot, humid summers.
