What to do in Toronto : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
The capital of the province of Ontario in Canada, Toronto has more than two and a half million inhabitants, making it the largest city in the country. It is also the economic capital. A multicultural city, it was originally a French fort before it welcomed British settlers. Located alongside Lake Ontario, it is crossed by two rivers and their tributaries, and it experiences a humid continental climate, with cold winters and hot, humid summers. Many events enliven the city, such as the International Festival of Authors, the International Film Festival, the shows at the French Theatre of Toronto and the Luminato and Nuit Blanche festivals. There are also several sites in the city that are of particular interest to visitors including the Osgoode Palace, the Scadding Cabin which is said to be the oldest house in the city, the Arts Centre, the Royal Botanical Gardens, Ontario Science Centre, the Royal Park, St. Michael's Cathedral, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, and Ireland Park are just a few examples. The city is served by an international airport and a subway allows easy movement around the city, as well as a bus network. You will certainly notice the ethnic diversity of this city, which is reflected in its different neighbourhoods and that give it a unique atmosphere.
