What to do in Stockholm : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
The capital of Sweden, Stockholm has just under a million inhabitants. Built on several islands along the Baltic Sea coast, the city is characterised by the presence of water, with dozens of bridges that connect the neighbourhoods together. The city has a continental climate with very distinct seasons, mild summers and harsh winters. You can visit the old town primarily located on Stadsholmen, with its narrow streets, the royal palace, the German church and the Nobel Museum, Djurgarden Island with the Vasa Museum, the Nordic Museum and the Gröna Lund amusement park, as well as the vibrant Södermalm district with nightclubs and Mariatorget Place. Theatres and operas are also numerous in the city, and you'll discover two places listed as World Heritage sites by UNESCO; the Drottningholm Palace and the Skogskyrkogarden cemetery. The city is served by an international airport and is also a major port. In addition, city transport is very well developed; metro, tram, and bus. Cycling around the city is facilitated by more than 700 km of cycle paths. For accommodation, there are a number of youth hostels and many hotels, but prices are relatively high.
