What to do in Singapore : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
An Asian city-state, Singapore has more than four and a half million inhabitants. The city has a great ethnic and cultural diversity, and an amazing economic dynamism. You will discover various aspects of Asian culture, when strolling around the different city neighbourhoods; Chinatown, Little India, Arab Street and the Colonial quarter with its British monuments. You will no doubt enjoy exploring Orchard Road, on the modern side of the city, with its shopping malls and restaurants, and will probably want to visit the Peranakan Showhouse Museum, located in a group of older houses. Various events will no doubt enliven your stay such as the Chinese New Year, the festival dedicated to theatre arts and dance which takes place every two years, the Kusu Island pilgrimage dedicated to the god of prosperity, and Deepavali, in November, in Little India. You will certainly enjoy the leisure park in East Coast Park with its variety of different sports amenities, and discover the Singapore Crocodilarium, unless you prefer simply relaxing on the beach. The city is served by Changi International Airport and you can move easily around the city using the highly efficient public transport with metro, buses and taxis.
