What to do in Nagasaki : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Japanese town made sadly famous by the nuclear attack it suffered in 1945, Nagasaki today has a little over 400,000 inhabitants. A port city with very large shipyards, it is served by an international airport and local transport is provided by bus and tram, you can use these services for a whole day with just one ticket. Thematic tours are available relating to the history of the bombing, an essential point of any visit to the city, you can also visit the oldest bridge in Japan, a number of temples with Chinese architecture, many shrines, and the very old Catholic Oura church, classified as a national treasure. There is also the Urakami cathedral rebuilt after the war, the monument to the 26 Christian martyrs, as well as several very interesting museums. You can also stroll through the park and take the cable car up to the summit of Mount Inasa where there is a magnificent view over the city. Today, Nagasaki is a modern city, but you will also enjoy the particularly beautiful nature that surrounds it.
