What to do in N'Djamena : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Capital of Chad, N'Djamena has more than one million inhabitants and is located to the west of the country, at the confluence of the Chari and Logone rivers of. A bridge connects the town of Kousseri, just across Cameroon. The capital has an international airport, which is the largest point of entry of Chad. To get around town, there are taxis, and you can also rent a car in different companies. Which sites to visit? The main places: the Fountain of the Union on the Charles de Gaulle Avenue; Notre Dame de la Paix, sober and imposing; the National Museum, the largest in the country, where there are rooms dedicated to archeology, traditions, costumes; King Faisal Mosque; Dembé the market, a little eccentric but more crowded than the central market because of its low prices. Near the capital, take some time to go sailing on Lake Chad, visit the museum Gaoui, see the caves and the frescoes of Yarda and Gaser, or rock carvings of Zouar, or discover the ruins 'Ouara, classified as UNESCO heritage. Note: at the time when we write these lines, tourist trips in the capital of Chad are strongly discouraged, following the attacks in the summer of 2015.
