Town in Brittany in the Morbihan department, Lorient is built at the bottom of the harbor, and has about 58,000 residents. Sometimes called the city of 5 ports Lorient is just the figurehead of the Morbihan: partially destroyed during World War II, it now offers a smiling face to the traveler, with its mix of modern architecture and ancient carved pediments. Besides the Interceltique Festival held in early August (international encounters between artists from the Celtic world), visitors will discover many interesting sites in the city: the historic heart, with pavilions at the Gabriel Hotel and Place d'Armes, the mills Admiralty, and the Tour of Discovery where you will kiss a beautiful view of the harbor, after climbing the 225 steps; the memorial of the "city destroyed" in tribute to victims of the Second World War; the former base of submarines Keroman; the gallery of Faouëdic, hosted by the old library, and multiple collections; the Place, a gallery featuring the biggest names in photography; the city of the veil Eric Tabarly. See, the Museum of the East India Company, and the submarine museum. And as it is also in Lorient that is the pier to Groix Island, take the opportunity to visit this island so attractive. To move to Lorient, there is a bus network, but you can also walk on foot or travel by bicycle. Access to the city by TGV from Paris or the airport of Lorient, which offers flights to Orly or Lyon and others to Porto and Southampton.
