What to do in Lefkada : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Lefkada (Lefkada) is part of the Ionian batteries, and is dominated by Mount Stavrota which culminates at 1158 meters. Mainly on tourism and the cultivation of oil and wine, Lefkada has just over 22 000 inhabitants. This mountainous island has a rich vegetation, especially in the east and south, and several sites of interest to tourists: Lefkada, its eponymous capital, with houses painted wood; many churches and monasteries, including the Monastery of Panagia Faneromeni (Virgin Mary Illuminated); the Archaeological Museum in the center of the capital, setting out the findings of the archaeologist Dörpfeld dating from the Bronze Age; the Folk Art Museum with its collection of photos and costumes; the white cliffs of the south of the island; Agia Mavra Castle built in the 14th century; Papanikolis the cave, with its huge stalactites, exclusively to visit by boat. Nature lovers can enjoy on Lefkada and ribs of water sports, or enjoy hikes in its peaceful landscapes, but night owls will not be disappointed because Nidri is full of lively bars and nightclubs, busy in summer. Lefkada is accessed by the Aktion Airport from Athens which is an hour's flight. Trips to the island are by bus or taxi, but you can also rent a car or a scooter.
