What to do in Lagos : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Located south of the Algarve, sunny region of Portugal, Lagos has about 31,000 inhabitants, and the existence of its port is 2000 years old. Become very touristy since the 70s, several sites found there to visit, like the Saint-Antoine church with its asymmetrical towers and its sumptuous interior, including tiles of the 18th century, carved wood and paintings Rasquinho; Regional Museum of the Algarve and its archaeological and ethnographic collections, and weapons brought from Mozambique and the king's ceremonial costumes Sébastien 1; Fort Ponta da Bandeira, built in the 17th century, with its drawbridge and its pretty little chapel. As for nature, note the Point of Piety, the Caves of the Gold Coast, the lagoon of Alvor and the national forest of Baron St John, not to mention the beautiful beaches, including Meia Praia extending over 4 kilometers long. The city also offers a vibrant nightlife, and makes excursions in the vicinity, as to the city of Portimao, the historic center of Silves, or the wild beaches of Sagres. Lagos is accessed landing at Faro airport, then joining the station to take the train from Faro to Lagos (journey 1:30).
