What to do in Hammamet : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Located northeast of Tunisia, on the coast south of Tunis, Hammamet has about 73,000 inhabitants, and it offers the traveler, in the scent of orange flowers, sandy beaches and well-preserved medina and a 15th century Kasbah and a modern marina that pleasantly combine their charms. In an atmosphere still very authentic despite the distinct development of tourism, you can discover the outdoor theater, Pupput archaeological site, Fort museum, intact walls of the medina and souks of perfumes and fabrics, pretty flowery streets, mosques, hammams, pottery shops, the Folklore Museum, the beautiful villas combines Moorish and Western architecture, such as the Dar villa. The new city Yasmine Hammamet offers an amusement park (Carthageland) which may appeal to some. All appreciate the other hand the many small restaurants where you can taste the different specialties: couscous of course, but also fish and seafood pastilla, brick egg, mechouia. For traveling, bus and individual or collective taxis are readily available. Access to the city is by plane to the airports of Tunis and Monastir, and then by road (bus or taxi) or train from Tunis.
