What to do in Frankfurt : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Reputed to be the richest of Germany, Frankfurt also appears in the top 10 most visited cities in the world in 2012. Served by an international airport, which is the third in Europe, it has nearly 700,000 inhabitants, and is home to the European Central Bank. Tourists come from around the world, attracted by its dynamism and its intense cultural life. In addition to the air, it can be reached by train, the station is also one of the largest and most active in Europe, or the highway at that location with an exchanger which is a model of its kind. For traveling in the city itself, you can take tram or subway. Built along a tributary of the Rhine, Frankfurt occupies a strategic position in Europe, and its climate is semi-continental, with contrasting seasons. While skyscrapers are dozens, a forest, Frankfurter Stadtwald, finds its place in the middle of the city and its historic pedestrian area is full of exciting places to discover. The city was partially destroyed during the Second World War, but beautiful monuments remain, such as the St. Bartholomew Gothic cathedral had to be rebuilt twice since the 14th century, the town hall (Römer) situated on Römerberg Square with its four imperial statues, the Orthodox church of Saint-Nicolas; stroll exploring the Sachsenhausen district of Frankfurt, with its cobbled streets and numerous restaurants where you can taste local specialties or those of Bornheim who also retained many traces of the past. Do not miss to visit the Commerzbank Tower overlooking the city from a height of 259 meters, and a few museums such as the Städel with its magnificent paintings by Cezanne, Vermeer, Dürer, Renoir and many other famous painters .
