What to do in Copenhagen : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
The capital of Denmark, Copenhagen has just over 500,000 inhabitants. An old industrial port it is now more orientated towards tourism and is an obligatory stopping point for the Baltic Sea cruise ships. A number of places are worth visiting in the city such as the Kastellet, or Citadel, and right next to it the famous Little Mermaid inspired by the fairytale of Hans Christian Anderson. There is also Rosenberg Castle where the crown jewels are kept, the Nyhavn Canal runs beside picturesque multicoloured houses, and there are several museums including Ny Carlsberg Glypotek with its Etruscan and Egyptian sculptures, the National Museum with antique objects dating back to the Palaeolithic era. Visit Tivoli as well, a famous park with gardens, restaurants and diverse attractions. You will no doubt enjoy seeing the architecture and experiencing the dynamism of this city and enjoy a visit to the pedestrian street of Stroget, great for shopping and browsing. There are also three forts, situated at the entrance to the port and its artistic sector offers ballet, opera and theatre events. One of the best forms of transport in Copenhagen is that favoured by many of its residents, the bicycle. It should be noted that Copenhagen is also renowned for its gastronomy.
