The major town of Sardinia, itself an Italian island, Cagliari has around 150,000 inhabitants. It is an overpopulated town with a lovely Mediterranean climate that attracts many tourists. Mainstay of the Nuragic civilisation, Sardinia has a Nuragic Archaeological Museum as well as several historical monuments that merit a visit; a 2nd Century Roman amphitheatre, the Saint Saturnino Basilica dating from the 5th Century which is on the highest point of the island. The gateway character of the city gives it a certain dynamism that is evident both day and night, and the Mediterranean ambiance of the place will certainly seduce you. The hotel infrastructure is of very good quality and there are a variety of restaurants to suit all pockets and tastes.
