What to do in Bandar : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Capital of the Sultanate of Brunei, Bandar has a population of around 85,000. Originally built over water, the modern part rests firmly on land and throughout the city houses on stilts can be seen next to building of more modern construction giving rise to a surprising mixture. There are a number of interesting places to visit such as the Omar Ali Saiffudin Mosque, a splendid building with a golden dome and rose granite, and the Museum of technology, the Brunei History Centre, the Royal Regalia Museum and the stilted village of Kampung Ayer that is mostly built over water. Take the time to wander around the city and visit some of the many different traditional local markets.
