What to do in Aurillac : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
French town of Cantal in the Massif Central, Aurillac counts about 29 000 inhabitants and is built at 600 meters of altitude. Although it does not have an exceptional historical heritage, the city offers several sites to visit, with the narrow streets of the center, its shady squares and café terraces, as well as some medieval half-timbered houses. You can also visit the Saint-Géraud church, dating from the 15th century, which was a stop on the way to Santiago de Compostela, or the Consular House with its beautiful stone sculptures overlooking the door, not to mention the Chateau de Saint-Etienne which Dominates the city, built partly in the 9th century, and today houses the Museum of Volcanoes. Also worth seeing: the National Stud, the Palace of Justice, the theater. You will also be able to attend the International Theater Festival at the end of August or in June at Les Européennes du Goût, a gastronomic festival where you will find the presence of renowned chefs. You can reach the city by plane with HOP! Coming from Paris and landing at the airport of the city, or by car by the A20 from Toulouse and the A75 coming from Clermont-Ferrand. There is a very good bus network for getting around town.
