What to do in Antibes : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
French city of Alpes-Maritimes, near Nice, on the edge of the Mediterranean, Antibes has about 75 000 inhabitants. Both seaside and cultural Antibes attracts as many travelers in search of sun and relaxation as those who appreciate its heritage: they can stroll through the old town with its buildings dating from the Middle Ages, and the Provencal market prices Massena, visit the Picasso museum or the museum of Archaeology, the Thuret garden with 1,600 species of plants, the Fort Carré built in the 16th century on the Saint-Roch peninsula that offers a beautiful view of the coast, the museum Napoleonic installed in the tower of cricket at the tip of the cape. Also mention, the museum of the Tower, an ethnological museum with objects on daily life in Antibes in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the museum "Peynet and Cartoon". For those who prefer the outdoors, discover the beach of Salis, off season to avoid the crowds, with its fine sand and majestic views of the mountains, or the set of the Garoupe, borrowing Calvary Road from the port, where you can admire its 78 meters of a very nice top view of the French Riviera, the snowy Alps, and even Corsica and Italy on a clear day. Regarding cultural events, it should be noted of course Jazz Festival, held every July, and is now the first European jazz festival. Antibes is accessed by the A8 motorway but also by TGV, and of course by plane landing at Nice airport (18 km). To move around the city, walking is the simplest, but you can also rent a bike or a scooter, or use the bus.
