What to do in Inverness : Tips, places, hotels and restaurants
Northeast of Scotland, Inverness is located in the Highlands of which it is the capital. With just under 60,000 inhabitants, it owes its tourist success especially to the famous Loch Ness and its legendary monster, but also to many attractions of the city. Access to the city by plane through the airport which is about ten kilometers from the center, but also directly by train from London. If you want to enjoy your stay to the fullest, choose the period between June and September, where the climate is milder and less rainy. Sites to see: the castle, the Saint-André Cathedral, the Old High St Stepehn's Church, which is the oldest church in the city, and a little away from Inverness, Fort George fortress built by the English in the 18th century. You can also visit the cultural center Rectory Hill, bronze Museum devoted to regional sculptors, as well as numerous art galleries. Outdoor enthusiasts will sail with pleasure the many paths that leave from the city to discover nature and lovely panoramas. During the summer, you will certainly have the opportunity to attend festive events where music and traditional dances will result you in their frenzied pace. Food lovers will enjoy regional specialties and local beer. And do not forget of course to board one of the boats that offer trips on Loch Ness to try to see the monster ... or at least to visit Urquhart Castle!
